awesome songs I am listening to right now
Updated as I go through my ipod while type stuff for mi hermana.
from Lullabies to Paralyze
This Lullaby (*.apocalypse)
You Got a Killer Scene There Man (Butthole Surfers-esque, VB playlist)
Long Slow Goodbye
from Complications
Who Will Be the Next in Line (the Kinks)
Wake Up Screaming (the Subhumans - *.apocalypse mix - ahahahaha! the scream at the end)
Most Exalted Potentate of Love (the Cramps - patrick/gerard futurefic - still needs name)
from Queens of the Stone Age
Mexicola (the last minute is supercool bang bang)
I Was a Teenage Hand Model (VB or something a little more chill)
from Rated R
Feel Good Hit of the Summer (*snerk*)
The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret (an Oz song. this whole album is an Oz album)
Auto Pilot (roy.)
Better Living Through Chemistry (vampire shenanigans)
Monster in the Parasol (oz/vampire shenanigans)
In the Fade (oz)
from Songs for the Deaf
No One Knows (unsurprisingly, this album is an awesome road trip album and this song esp.)
First it Giveth (hm. maybe I'm just in an Oz mood. oz/shenanigans/mutant stuff)
Song for the Dead (shenanigans/mutant)
The Sky is Falling (is there any time that a song with this title isn't awesome?)
Hangin' Tree (shenanignas/mutant)
Go With the Flow (rockin')
God Is in the Radio (I bet Ray Toro would like this song)
Another Love Song (patrick/gerard futurefic)
Song for the Deaf (shenanigans/mutant/*.apocalypse)
Mosquito Song (ahahaha. shenanigans. it is made of absurdity and awesome, much like KoC.)
Wow, I'm SO ANNOYED by the Arcade Fire right now. Possibly this is not the right time to be listening to it.
God, I love the Beastie Boys.
Intergalactic (awesomeness)
Fight for Your Right (there is no summer/party/rockin' mix that is complete without this)
Sure Shot
Sabotage (I honest to god don't know why there aren't (more?) vids to this song.)
Girls
No Sleep Til Brooklyn (see above re: Fight For Your Right)
Right now I am listening to Ben Folds' Rockin' the Suburbs. Which is happy! Because really, I love me a well-crafted pop song. In a lot of ways I think that crafting a good pop song (and I'm going to count pop punk and pop rock under this) is actually really hard in a way that doesn't get appreciated nearly enough because pop music as a whole is pretty easily dismissed because it's not Serious Business. Whatever. There's a reason my boo Butch Walker is able to buy like, five houses with the money he makes off his hobby and that is because he is one of the best pop/rock producers out there.
My current favorite lyric is: "How did it come to be / tied to a railroad / no love to set us free." especially because it's over this GLORIOUS piece of pastiche piano that's rocking like a silent film. I love you, Muse. Never change.
