All I want is a frothy, delightful fantasy/romance/sci fi novel that has banter and good people and not a lot of angst, like, just enough angst to make me go awwwww and want them to have hugs and a plot that's not entirely WTF-inducing or inexplicable while also being PoC/queer friendly and/or with the not-overbearing social commentary.

Like, in my secret heart of hearts? I really just want a Terry Pratchett-esque book with romance. I'm not gonna lie. Or ooh, something like Chuck. Or Pushing Daisies! I would REALLY REALLY LOVE THE BOOK EQUIVALENT OF PUSHING DAISIES.

...barring this, I would like for Connie Willis to write a novel-length exploration of "At The Rialto." Hello screwball comedy *and* quantum physics! It is like my favoritest thing in the world.

and while I'm asking for the moon: I would like all of this not told in first person.

also: nick and norah's infinite playlist, y/n?

eta: found my copies of Impossible Things and Bellwether. Woo!

I love Chuck like whoa.

And if I was doing Nano, I'd try to write that for you!

Have you ever read the Miles Vorkosigan books by Lois McMaster Bujold? He can be an angstmuppet sometimes, but the thing is... well, his angst isn't mocked, but it's never taken completely serious, either, not even by himself. Wonderfully sardonic humour, crazy antics, militarist Russians and one slightly megalomaniacal hero - those books have everything! And they come in really really cheap omnibus editions nowadays, which I certainly appreciate.

I have not read them, but I've read other stuff by Bujold that didn't do anything for me, so I'm wary of going to the Vorkosigan place because a lot of people I know love and adore those books like burning and I don't want to disappoint them.

I will try them though!

Heee. My quest for that mythical book is everlasting.

One day it will exist and then I will run around showing it to everybody and going, "Look at how awesomely wonderfully perfect this book is!" and clutching it to my chest and calling it my squishy.
