augh

I need the Muslims from the Comic Con version of the first two chapters of Heroes! Woe!

No, I am not vidding instead of doing something productive. Really.

The downside of having seen Heroes at Comic Con is that I am somewhat confused by what is and is not canon anymore. Like the hand cutting off. Not canon? Will be canon? CUT OFF YOUR HAND, ISAAC! And the Muslim dudes! I want them back! Will they be back? I doubt they will be back. Sad! They were *awesome*. Also, I need them! At least microwave hand guy!

I need to do a post about 1x04 "Collision" (and how seriously fucked up was that title background?), but right now I am still all WHEE over it and not terribly coherent.

And I have not quite decided if Isaac gets an icon yet.

In conclusion: HEROES!

ETA: OMG, [livejournal.com profile] latxcvi, Hiro's grandfather got Hiro started on the path of hero-dom with Action Comics #1. *flail*

haha yeah ;_; I saw the preaired pilot, then I saw the 2nd aired episode months(?) later, and had the most hardcore HE HAS A HAND WHAT~!!?

I can't actually remember any of the differences other than him a) not chopping his hand off and b) different music over one of the scenes, but I might stare at scribewraith and see if she can remember any. :o

[identity profile] mimesere.livejournal.com 2006-10-18 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
A lot of the differences were in the Grunberg's storyline, which doesn't look like it was included in the unaired pilot, so I'm not sure. I need to sit down one day and watch it and then watch the pilot as aired and figure out what is and isn't included.

THANK you! I saw the original pilot with the hand-cutting, and have been horribly confused ever since because I am now continually 'wtf? why does he have a hand?!' and thought maybe I was having some kind of delusion.

I want to see the original second chapter. Why must the internet let me down on the important things?

[identity profile] mimesere.livejournal.com 2006-10-18 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
There were so many different things! Micah had a whole different plotline, Grunberg had a different one, Isaac cut off his hand, etc etc. I am very confused! But hey, maybe I can look at the Comic Con and unaired pilot as like, a wacky AU.

[identity profile] oh-mumble.livejournal.com 2006-10-18 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Micah nicked money and tried to run away, didn't he? ::is puzzled:: God, I really need to watch the actual episode instead of rearranging the original in my brain. What was the Grunberg plot?

Wacky AUs are the best. ::nods:: Also, I now know that I wasn't delusional and making up things in my head. Yay!

[identity profile] mimesere.livejournal.com 2006-10-18 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Micah nicked money and ran away to his dad who was in prison. His dad is no longer in prison and is on the lam. And the Grunberg plot was that there was going to be a bombing by Islamic extremists in Los Angeles and he needed to help stop it. He found one of them hiding in the house by hearing his thoughts (in *arabic*, so awesome) and then was all, "Okay, I can help you catch the bombers, but I'm gonna need two things. 1) I want to go with you on the bust and 2) a translator." And then there was a whole plotline from the POV of the Muslims, one of whom had radiation hands (there's a painting of him in Isaac's loft -- the one with the hand holding the boiling glass of water).

[identity profile] oh-mumble.livejournal.com 2006-10-18 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I just. I want to see that so *bad*, because those plotlines? Would have been *awesome*. I guess they chickened out of the extremists, huh?

[identity profile] mimesere.livejournal.com 2006-10-19 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
They did chicken out; Tim Kring said very specifically that they were going to stay away from the terrorist thing. Which makes me sad! Because they were awesome. Woe.

[identity profile] oh-mumble.livejournal.com 2006-10-19 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
::sighs:: I find that frustrating. Possibly because I am so used to Spooks being all about spies and terrorists. Have some guts, people!

[identity profile] mimesere.livejournal.com 2006-10-19 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Heee. I think part of the problem is that they established (some of) the extremists as being sympathetic and that, I think, would not have gone over terribly well. Stupid political climate.

[identity profile] oh-mumble.livejournal.com 2006-10-19 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Sympathetic to the audience? Oh noes! ::eye roll:: Seriously?

[identity profile] mimesere.livejournal.com 2006-10-19 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
well, you know, we can't unilaterally villify people who might be sympathetic. And daring to show Muslim extremists as sympathetic might read like forgiving! and excusing! their actions. And *that* is not allowed. Unless you are on Showtime or a British import :)

[identity profile] oh-mumble.livejournal.com 2006-10-19 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I ended up ranting about this to a friend of mine tonight. We started off about a friend of hers who had *never heard of the Rwandan genocide*, took a detour to my art teacher who had no idea what the Holocaust *was*, and then got on to media portrayal of religious extremism. I believe the conclusion was that people are fucktards, but in a more intelligent expression than that.

I'm realising how much I love British tv. I mean, this week? Israeli terrorists pretending to be Al Qaeda and shooting people on the internet. AND NO ONE HERE BATS AN EYELID!

[identity profile] flyingtapes.livejournal.com 2006-10-18 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
MAN. I was wondering *so hard* about the hand. Episode two aired and Isaac had a hand and I was like, WTF? Where did that get retconned? Thanks for clearing that up.

Also, this is the only show on television where I'm crushed that I don't have more to watch each week. I hate it when the show finally goes to black because I want *more*!!

[identity profile] mimesere.livejournal.com 2006-10-18 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh dude, I know! I get so sad every time an episode ends because it's all just so *pretty* and messed up and wonderful.

And I'm really sad about the lack of hand-cutting-off, because it's such an awesome, awesome character note. *That's* how hard the need to shoot up/have visions/paint is for him. Without it, I'm sort of just like..."Yo, is this an excuse for shooting up? Because that's not super, Isaac." Also, it was *hardcore*. I hope he cuts his hand off in the future!

[identity profile] flyingtapes.livejournal.com 2006-10-22 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm reading the other threads in this post and wow, I forgot about the Micah stealing money thing and how that totally didn't happen in the aired storyline. And I would have given money to see Grunberg in the pilot. Not just because he is teh super-hot.

I haven't had this kind of big love for a show in a long while, dude. It's so nice.

[identity profile] coniraya.livejournal.com 2006-10-18 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I knew he lost a hand in the original pilot we saw at Comic-Con! The more I watched and it didn't happen the more I doubted it ever happened!
I want one-handed Isaac too.

[identity profile] mimesere.livejournal.com 2006-10-19 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
One handed Isaac is made of hardcore win. As he is now, I just can't tell if he wants to save the world for the world's sake or if there is something um, crazier in his head. Oh, Isaac.

[identity profile] latxcvi.livejournal.com 2006-10-19 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I can't say I'm at all surprised then that Hiro is my favorite!

[identity profile] mimesere.livejournal.com 2006-10-19 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Heee! *twirls you happily*

future!Hiro is so totally and completely made of stoical warrior win. *heart*
