My hair is up in pigtails, my lunch consisted of dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets, and oreos with milk. *wins at maturity*

in other news, have watched the pilot for Babylon Fields and, on the one hand, ZOMBIES OMG YAY! on the other...dude, those were some wholesome looking zombies considering some of them were victorians and suchlike.

highlight of the episode: Watching the dead walk across the screen and going, "Hey, I know that song. Why do I know that song?" and realizing that the song is "The Church of Hot Addiction" by Cobra Starship

non-highlight of the episode: ...like newlyweds at an oyster festival? we had to go there? REALLY?

here, have some victorian zombie dancing to one of my favorite songs.

I live less than 5 miles from this.

Er.

eta: people who I have promised not to die: I renew my promise not to die horribly in a fire. er. even though there is apparently a massive fire five miles from where I live. or something. I live near the 241! I am a little bit freaked out! But the Orange County Fire Authority says not to evacuate! Even though there is a big sign outside my complex that says to listen to KNX newsradio for updates!

eta2: WTF! Residents of Orchard Hills and Portola Springs areas of Irvine are asked to stay at home with windows and doors closed. THAT IS A MILE FROM WHERE I LIVE! I SHOP AT THE ORCHARD HILLS SHOPPING CENTER!

eta4: WOO! SO CAL FREEWAYS FTW! Apparently the fire that was headed toward Irvine hit the 241 toll road and stopped. I think. According to this news report thing. I hope. My bag is packed just in case.

eta5: now there are voluntary evacuations. !!!

eta6: ...and I can see the fire from my house.

eta7: and now I have switched to the emergency band for Irvine.

eta8: the view from my mom's bedroom window )

eta9: there's a mandatory evacuation notice for 2 miles away. So. Uh. Well. We'll see what's going on.

eta10: now they've rescinded the mandatory evacuation and we're back to voluntary evacuation for the area just across the street from my community. woo. Or no, according to the emergency band, the mandatory is still on for the community 2 miles away but the OCFA says not.

eta11: I aten't dead! Woo! Fire seems to be under control.

eta12: Aaaaaand they're back to mandatory evacuations. Not near my house or in my city, but still. I am at work and well away from it, but I'm watching the OCFA page so I can let my mom know what's the happenings if she needs to go.

eta13: HAHAHA. It got worse. Approx. 15000 acres burned, mandatory evacuations in Lake Forest, and wind conditions/temperature not really working in anyone's favor. Grar. Judging from the evacuation sites, it's moving away from my house (thank goodness), but now there are 2000 structures in immediate danger and the fire has grown at least half again as big since I got to work.

http://www.ocfa.org/pages/ocfa.asp?filename=canyonfiremap.asp <-- a map of the fire. If you look on the far left side of the map where all the little streets are? That's where I live. Anyway. This is emphatically not super. There's ash everywhere, it's gray and smells like smoke everywhere, and just. Ugh.
