Meredith really is awesome -- if somewhat annoying -- when you get her away from McDreamy. Bailey is awesome, Addison rocks the casbah, Cristina's competitiveness is funny and adorable and a little scary, Izzie and Denny continue to be both inappropriate and adorable, Alex is a dick (not wrong, but utterly a dick. Telling the truth does not necessitate being an asshole), McDreamy was not as bad as usual, Chris O'Donnell was pretty but lord, Meredith, stick with *celibacy*. You're more entertaining that way.
Laurie Metcalf made me cry. Thatcher is an asshole and also George remains the best person ever for that description of Meredith. I'm sort of confused by why Callie is homeless but that is secondary to HOW MUCH I LOVE HER.
Seriously. George stops her world! And she's all disgusted with Meredith *and* Izzie because they don't see George! And Izzie's all jealous! And then, seriously, the kiss between George and Callie was at the same time one of the most adorable and inexplicably hottest kisses ever.
To sum up: Grey's Anatomy continues to win.

I continue to be pleasantly surprised by how much I like Meredith when she's not pining over Derek. Yeah, she's annoying, but almost all of them are annoying in some way or another. I thought George's description of Meredith fit her to a "T", and I liked that he was able to do that even though he's still obviously very mad at her.
McDreamy's non-annoying quotient increases exponentially, for me anyway, when he's dealing with anyone who's not Meredith or Addison. I loved that sequence with him, Bailey and Andrew full-stop.
I'm worried for Izzie. I hope her inappropriate closeness with Denny doesn't cause too much trouble for her, but it definitely looks like things are coming to a head next week. Izzie's jealousy of Callie was so fabulous and I loved the way Callie called both her and Meredith out on not really seeing George (even if Meredith, naturally, wasn't paying attention).
Right on about Alex. His sentiment -- that the Metcalfe character needed to tell her daughter the truth -- wasn't wrong, but Alex is one of those people who uses Being a Truth Teller as an excuse to be an asshole. He thinks that "being honest" somehow gives him carte blanche to treat people however he wants while he's doing so, and that just makes me want to punch him in the face. Truth really isn't mutually exclusive to civility.
Thatcher is a jerk. "Ellis broke him" is not an excuse for him to make no effort to reach out to Meredith, to not tell her there was this *whole other person* to whom she had a connection, etc. I mean, sure, yes, Ellis didn't let him in when Meredith was a kid, but what about all the years Meredith's been on her own, been an adult? Yeah, I think Meredith handled it all quite well given the circumstances and the fact that she would have been within her rights to pitch a fit about it.
