I was composing a mental list of songs that I like listening to right now, and realised that quite a lot of them are actually pretty depressing. And while depressing songs are all well and good if you're in the right mood, it wasn't exactly what I was shooting for. So here are some songs that, while not all of them are happy, at least make me want to dance around the room. (I'm one of those people who plays the music really loud and dances when nobody's around to see.) You probably have some of these already, and I may even have got some of them from you; I don't remember where my music recs come from.

I'm also possibly a little overzealous when it comes to music, but at least you'll have a lot of options to consider.

Alkaline Trio - Private Eye
Arrogant Worms - Pirates of the Saskatchewan
Bare - You and I
Boney M - Rasputin
Bruce Springsteen - Lonesome Day
Guster - Careful
Idelwild - American English
Matt Nathanson - More Than This
Thea Gilmore - Down to Nowhere
The Tossers - Irish Whisky
Murray Head - One Night in Bangkok
The Dandy Warhols - Scientist
Billy Bragg - Sexuality
The Decemberists - Legionnaire's Lament
The Decemberists - The Infanta
