A vid.

What it means to be Commodore James Norrington.

http://www.ourfallenwords.com/mimesere/commodore2.wmv
http://www.exp626.net/vids/commodore2.wmv

Hosted by the magnificent [livejournal.com profile] themagdalene, who is kindness itself.

And if that doesn't work then...well.  I shall hand out another url.  But the .wmv is much nicer, despite the mysterious line.  'cause like, Elizabeth's head doesn't look like it has a giant growth on it.

Wow, that was really very beautiful. Your attention to detail is stunning.

Thank you! My attention to detail in this case is helped along immeasurably by Jack Davenport's presence on the screen.

It's beyond words. I always love Jack Davenport but never consider myself a real Norrington fan. But your video makes him so adorable that I can't resist hugging him. Thank you so much for your excellent work.

*g* Norrington deserves hugs for his puppy-eyed woe, 'cause he (and it) are just that adorable.

Anyway, I'm glad you liked it!

My computer's been a mess lately and I've tried to download this vid over and over again. At last I managed, and now I have seen it. It's truly wonderful. Poor Norrington. I particularly liked the ending, it was very haunting.

Thank you. I just...I've mentioned it before, but I do end up just looking at Norrington and wondering how he made it into the movie with all the complexity and melancholy and *layers* that he had. And haunting is a good word, because that's what the fight on the Dauntless is to me.

So, thank you again.

Heh. It is my second and a half vid. The half is lost, lost, lost and thank goodness for that. And the other one is a Mal vid that I had up briefly and um, don't have up any longer. Mostly 'cause it is kind of not great. One day, I may re-edit it with dvd footage, but today is not that day.

I found this while wandering vaguely around LJ, in the area of potc icons and such, and just, wow. I had never even looked at Norrington as that deep of a character. I think you said it in one of your earlier comments (I'm a lurker - sorry) that he's simply set up as a foil for Jack's antics and escapes... so true. But in your video, he's this tragic hero whose only flaw seems to be that he cares about everything so much.

And I absolutely HEART Hallelujah. One of my favorite songs of ever. And made complete and total sense when put to the clips.

Gah. I've seen the movie seven times now, and now I have to go back and watch it again for Norrington.

Much love... mind if I A) friend you? B) Put this in my memories? Won't do either til your sayso.

*g* I think that was Miss [livejournal.com profile] monkeycrackmary who said it, and it is very true. But...the thing is? He's always been the character I go to for complexity and depth, because he's so incongruous with his duty and, more, the depth of his responsibility and the fact that for all that Will goes on and on about being a good man, the only person who is repeatedly and demonstrably so is the secondary (or possibly tertiary) romantic lead.

He is a tragic hero! Only, not in the sense of being undone by his tragic flaw. Or at least not undone all the way.

I highly recommend watching the movie for Norrington. 'cause he's all deep and stuff :)

As I have said to others, I don't mind friending or memory-making at all, as long as you don't mind complete inanity with a few breaks for actual content. *g*

Oh, *sob*. I've now watched all this through four times in succession and I'm still so totally in love with it. You've just captured so much about him, and done it so beautifully, & you bring out so much of the horror and the cruelty of the film as it would have seemed from his side.

This is wonderful, you're wonderful and Norrington's just gorgeous.

I still wanna hug him, though.

This was gorgeous. I can really see that you put a lot of work and effort into this and it has paid off. I could talk about this for pages but I wouldn't want to bore you, so I'll just sign off with thanks and a kiss.

This was absolutly breathtaking and beautiful. By far it's the best PotC vid I have ever seen. I wish they could all be this good. I was almost crying watching. There is such emotion in it. It really shows Norrington's humanity, emotion, and weakness. If there is any way I honestly think you should burn a copy and send it to Jack Davenport. I think he would be happy to see what you have done with his character. Please think about doing it if you haven't already. I am so impressed. Thank you for sharing your talent and beautiful work with us.

As far as I know, it is not on YouTube, but people so rarely tell me when they upload it, so I don't know.
