grey's 3x03: "sometimes a fantasy"
Oct. 7th, 2006 11:16 pmSo...yeah. Eric Dane? Totally the Roy in my head now.
If McDreamy weren't such a useless *ass*, I would almost be willing to go for a Finn/Meredith/McDreamy threesome. But he is an ass, so I am pulling hard for Finn/Meredith, even though I know I am doomed to disappointment. I *loved* Meredith's scene with Addison, but this is largely because Addison is so awesome it's almost painful.
And um, hi, McSteamy should move to Seattle so I can ogle him a lot and so he can continue to be Addison's bootycall. Also, she looked *amazing*. But it is Kate Walsh, so that is hardly a surprise.
Cristina and Burke continue to be awesome. I felt terrible for Izzie. And apparently, working OBGYN with Addison is exactly what Alex needed to develop himself a soul. I do love the continuity of abused kids being Alex's kryptonite. And I'm actually going to come back to the Superkid plotline, because I have an embarrassing confession to make.
George and Callie is interesting to me because I can see and sympathize with both sides of what's going on. Yes, George is a shitty boyfriend, but see, the thing is, he *knows* he's a shitty boyfriend. And a lot of that comes from being the Nice One. Because if you're The Nice One, if your girlfriend needs a place to stay, you offer it even if it makes you be a passive aggressive little bitch about how you are totally not ready and crowded for space and separate-time. So, was George an annoyingly passive aggressive little bitch about the whole thing? Yes. Absolutely. But from his side, if you're the person George is, you don't learn to say no to people because that's not the way to keep things smooth and even-keeled and we know from *two seasons* of canon that George does not know how to say no or how to assert himself. And we also know that it all eventually pops out of him anyway. Um. Yes. Go team Callie for calling him on his BS -- except for the part about how he should have come to her. He *did* tell her he was concerned and she did brush him off. I am all conflicted. Bah. I love Callie and I love George but I am not sure I love Callie-and-George.
And a lot of this is because I think George should be gay. No, really. And I'm not just saying that because of my embarrassing confession of being That Person. You know, That Person who is 'shipping the two boys together on a show full of girls. I'm not, I swear. Well, I am. I am totally that person and I'm *so ashamed* oh my god. I mean, I ship the girls! I want all *kinds* of stuff with the girls. I want Addison/Izzie and Addison/Callie and sometimes I even want Addison/Meredith and Izzie/Meredith and Meredith/Cristina and hey, I'm totally on board with Addison/Adele. And god knows, I'm not actually 'shipping Alex and George, it's just...sometimes I think they would not be terrible together. And George is terrible with girls. God, I'm *so embarrassed*. But I loved um. All of their scenes together. I did. And I loved um, when Alex used George's Green Lantern (*Hal*, George? Seriously?) analogy with the Superkid.
I'm...gonna go now.

Too bad his Grey's Anatomy role doesn't require him to fondle a crossbow. :(

There was no better bitchslap in the episode than that one, and that's even taking into account Callie pwning George and Meredith pwning Finn and Derek at the end.
But he is an ass, so I am pulling hard for Finn/Meredith, even though I know I am doomed to disappointment.
See, I like Finn and I even like Finn with Meredith, but I don't think Meredith should get Finn because lo, she doesn't like him enough to *refrain from fucking another man while on a date with him*. I mean, even if you're not yet exclusively a couple, still -- you're on a date with Person A. That means you don't fuck Person B in the middle of it, you know what I'm sayin'?
Go team Callie for calling him on his BS -- except for the part about how he should have come to her. He *did* tell her he was concerned and she did brush him off.
I need to watch the episode again, but I don't remember him actually ever saying anything to her. He said it to Meredith (and then specifically asked Meredith to *not* say anything to Callie), but when Callie asked him *three different times* that day what was wrong, he brushed it off until it came bursting out during the scene in the hallway.
I like George a lot, but I don't have a lot of patience for it, even with his issues of being the Nice One, when he's directly given an opportunity to voice his concerns and he doesn't take it but then proceeds to be a passive-aggressive dickhead about things. IOW, if Callie hadn't actually asked him *three different times* what was wrong with him, I'd be more willing to cut him slack. 'Cause I can believe he can't break out of his conditioning when he's not given an opportunity to do so. But he had several openings there where he could have said "this is all moving a little too fast for me" and he could have said it In a Nice Way, too.
Then again, passive-aggression is second on the List Of Character Traits Designed To Drive LaT *Straight Up A Wall* (right after hypocrisy), so I can't claim complete objectivity on the situation given that George's behavior jumped all up and down on one of the *worst* buttons I have.
(*Hal*, George? Seriously?)
Dude, Zvi can tell you: I actually said, *out loud*, "Oh, George would like the Lantern who BLEW UP THE ENTIRE CORPS." So, um, yeah. That should tell you just how much his passive-aggression was bugging me. *snerk*

Date: 2006-10-08 04:24 pm (UTC)And I should have been more clear, during the Callie's bitchslap of George, it starts because he scares her patient into not having the ankle replacement surgery. *That* he did go to her with and she brushed him off. The not-going-to-her-about-moving-in thing was entirely deserved and I cheered her on for it.
I don't *like* George being passive aggressive, but I can totally understand where it comes from given his family and the people around him. It's not a good character trait and it is one that annoys the hell out of me, but it's good characterization and I can't quibble too much.
And I keep telling myself that he uses Hal's name because that's the one people will recognize. But yeah, in terms of a characterization note? He would totally go for the GL who freaked out so badly that he broke a psycho possessing guy out of GL prison 'cause he was *afraid*. Oh, Hal. I'm trying to talk myself into liking him and I'm telling myself that he made up for the um, killing of the Green Lantern Corps by giving up his own life to prevent the sun from being extinguished. But it's not working so well.

Date: 2006-10-09 09:32 pm (UTC)I submit that she brushed him off because he didn't know what the hell he was talking about. Not just because his 'why fix him up only to send him back out to destroy himself' bullshit presents the entire field of sports medicine as enabling behavior, which an orthopedic surgeon is just not. going. to. hear., but because they don't pass out ankle replacements just for funsies. If he needs his ankle replaced he needs it replaced because his ankle is going to become an ex-ankle, defunct and unusable. It's not elective surgery in the sense that the patient could choose to never have it, it's elective in the sense that the patient can have it now or later, but is going to need it if he wants to keep walking and jogging all his life.
