-I have to admit, I totally loved Hopper going out and just shooting the fuck out of the conspiracy henchmen.

-I don't think they're changing the rules of the story universe. What I *do* think is that as Hopper goes through and changes the major events of the day and, more importantly, as he *solves* them, enough of the day carries over to affect the next repetition. So, he fixes what was fucking up Nestor Carbonell (*damn* that man is pretty) and that repair carries over to Battle waking up and sending Nestor Carbonell to rehab. And when Hopper ran away with Rita and then got his ass shot and Battle killed, that was a fuckup severe enough to have consequences carry over in the form of the gunshot wound. And all of this is *awesome* because it gives the show a way to resolve plotlines without having to rehash them over and over and without giving Hopper a ridiculously long to-do list of problems to solve.

-Can I just say how *awesome* it is to be watching a show where the major players are people of color and women? Because seriously, Hopper's being motivated almost entirely by a desire to protect Rita (who continues to be *fucking wonderful* in the way where she manages to keep Hopper from being all manpainy by telling him to do his job), his sister (man, I want to know what's up there), and to help Battle (omg partner loyalty FTW!). I mean, yes, he is trying to beat the murder charge, but I don't doubt for a second that if he had the choice between beating the murder charge and keeping one of the ladies safe, he'd absolutely choose protecting the women. And I don't mean that in the chauvinistic way that it sounds because I don't think it's a case of "these are women, they must be protected by the manly man," so much as it is a case of "these are the people Brett Hopper loves and he would cut off his right arm if it meant keeping them safe." Does that make sense? It makes sense to me. Anyway. Women! People of color! FTW!
