Well, okay, first of all? I have totally developed a greater appreciation for Chris Pontius and his dirty, dirty grin and penchant for nudity. Er. And Johnny Knoxville. Who gets hotter and hotter with every incredibly stupid and physically punishing thing he does to himself.

Second, the commentary on volume 3 is...pretty much about how they are all really gay for each other.

Because um. Yeah.

Knoxville: "Bam, you've got a tight, firm ass. You should let everyone have a feel."
Dunn: "I've been in a relationship with him for 11 years. I'm first in line, you fucking dick."

I am seriously considering making a post about Jackass and how it's not about...embarrassment at all. Because they're *not* embarrassed and so, for me, it doesn't trigger that discomfort that humliation-based humor does.

oh lord, I am SO CHARMED by Knoxville's giggling. And Wee Man's smiling. And Shaq thinking it's all just the funniest thing he's ever seen.

Oh man, Sheila, I was having a super shitty day yesterday, and I finally watched Jackass 2 last night, and it made everything better! Seriously, it only took me about 20 minutes into the movie to feel like life and the world might not suck so much after all. Magic!!!

I am seriously considering making a post about Jackass and how it's not about...embarrassment at all.

So, so true! I have thought about similar things re: why it doesn't trigger my embarrassment and humiliation squick. I'd love to read that post. I was having thinky thoughts last night, too--though I suspect that was helped along by my second Guiness of the evening. *g* Still, Jackass totally makes me thinky!

*giggle* I admit, for me it is Dunn first and forever, because...he's Dunn! He's a long-suffering stoic! He's a klutz! He is bad at everything except building things with power tools! *hearts* But Knoxville is *totally* right up there 'cause of the giggling. It's adorable!

Eeeee! yay! Jackass 2 *is* magic! And dude, isn't that movie adorable? With the gay and the side of gay and also the gay? And the musical! And the bestest soundtrack ever! It makes me all happy.

And you should share your thinky thoughts! I think I shall spend a good part of today at work actually coming up with an intro to Jackass for people. Because that is an excuse for pic and random media spamming, and we all know I like to do that.

But yes, Jackass manages to completely miss my (admittedly underdeveloped) humiliation squick because a) they're not embarrassed at all and b) the humor isn't in humiliation. It's in outrageousness and/or slapstick and/or grossness, but none of it is about getting your jollies over someone else being embarrassed. Um, yes. Hi.

It was bugging me, but I've worked out where I've seen Bam's eyes before. He's got the eyes of the most psychotic (but surprisingly charming) bloke I ever met. He used to buy booze from me. When he was drunk off his face - so far beyond drunk he was out the other side - and capable of all kinds of crazy shit, he had eyes like that. And he was the sweetest to me just before his friends bought him a bottle of vodka* and then got him caught trying to turn a parked police car over.

*No, of course I wouldn't sell to him when he was pissed!
