[livejournal.com profile] halfacork did icon meme thing and asked about

keyword: daybreak
explanation: My love for this show knows no bounds, you guys. It was extremely shortlived (...longer than Drive, though, ha!) but awesome no matter what anyone says. It combined the prettiest man in the world (Taye Diggs) as a cop with a hot girlfriend (Moon Bloodgood), a hot partner (Victoria Pratt), hot antagonists (Adam Baldwin, Mitch Pileggi, Ian Anthony Dale), and hot friends (Ramon Rodriguez). It took place in a multicultural, multiracial Los Angeles. It had a vast conspiracy. IT HAD A REPEATING DAY (my most favoritest skiffy trope evah). Truly, the world hates me for cancelling that show. A whole three people watched it, but oh, it was grand. I use this for talking about race and gender in tv. Or about how hot Taye Diggs is. Or about stories that involve some kind of effing around with time.

keyword: f---- art, let's dance
explanation: Johnny Knoxville had this on a shirt and it struck me as being very...true. For me. Sometimes, most times, I just want to say eff art, let's dance. And then boogie like the world is ending. This one I use whenever I damn well feel like it.

keyword: how do they rise up?
explanation: Sprig of lilac and a line from a song in celebration of one of my all time favorite characters, books, and authors - Sam Vimes, specifically from Night Watch, from the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett. Cranky, honorable, stoic, believes in justice, snippy bitch, awesome awesome wife. The book has time travel and politics and revolution. Check around LJ on the 25th of May, people - including myself - post about it then. Used on the 25th of May or when talking about Vimes and/or Granny Weatherwax and/or Discworld and/or My One Trues.

keyword: cynical idealist
explanation: Oh, Norrington. One of my One Trues. LaT made me this icon and I loves it. It is precious to me. Anyway. You all know what I think of Norrington and why he is awesome, I don't need to go into that unless you really want me to. But let's say that I think Norrington, especially DMC Norrington, is a cynical bastard who thinks the world blows but who can't not try to maintain order and law. Used whenever I'm feeling particularly like a cynical idealist. Or when talking about politics.

keyword: fitter happier
explanation: This icon is made up of one of the promo posters that came out for the Radiohead album, OK Computer. The lyrics are very...well. Pretentious art wank. The funniest thing ever about this song is that apparently the band thought that it was LESS pretentiously art wank to have applespeak read the list than to have Thom do it. Ahahahahaha! Oh Radiohead. You do not live in the same world as the rest of us. It is the icon of my bitter, cynical, jaded depression. Also of my Radiohead love.

keyword: gert is made of win
explanation: From the...second volume of Brian K Vaughan's Runaways about a group of kids (from LA!) whose parents are supervillains and what they do in response. Gert is awesome and I love her to bits. I use this whenever...uh. Whenever. There's no rhyme or reason, really.

keyword: dujour means meta
explanation: I honest to god think Josie and the Pussycats is one of the most brilliant metatextual movies to come out recently. It's frothy and colorful and delightful, it comments intelligently on the ties between music and marketing, the production work on the songs is outstanding (hi Babyface, hi hi), the music is catchy, and DuJour is a brilliant parody of boybands while at the same time being made of awesomeness (Breckin Meyer, Seth Green, and Donald Faison? FTW.) Anyway. This is my icon for talking about actual meta.

So, you know. Comment and I'll ask you about your icons. Or you can ask me about mine. Or you can ask me questions and I'll answer, like a magic 8 ball. only with less wisdom. and stuff. I dunno. I'm bored.
