ARE YOU FOR REAL, LA TIMES? SERIOUSLY?

GO TO COMIC CON FOR THE DREAMY BOYS? SERIOUSLY?

I go to Comic Con because it is the nerdiest time of year surrounded by people who will dress their 3 year old toddlers up as LUKE AND LEIA, OKAY? and were the 501st legion can do a goddamn parade down the concourse and where two girls can dress up in awesome homemade Enchanted dresses JUST BECAUSE and where [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 and I can dress up as lolcats and PEOPLE WILL KNOW WHAT WE ARE.

It is where I go to see Bryan Fuller be a nerd and Kristen Chenowith sing songs and Chi McBride be snarky and where Christine Rose gets a standing ovation for being GODDAMN BADASS and where I could thank Javi for making an awesome show filled with women and people of color (ART CRAWL!) and where I could heckle the Rza and where I can stand there and argue the merits of Superman (many) vs the merits of uh, people without ethics who are LOLEDGY with douchebag fanboys and where random swedish men get superexcited about showing off their Connie Willis collection and where there are ARCs of books and people who like geeking out about books and IT IS WHERE I GO TO BE THE BEST NERD I CAN BE.

So go fuck your dreamy boys BS.

Unless the girls mobbing RPattz enable me to get closer to Jaime Ray Newman. Or the cast of Flash Forward OMG YOU GUYS JOHN CHO + JACK DAVENPORT IN A SHOW TOGETHER = :D :D :D :D :D.

Um. Anyway. Yes.

Am reading more of the article, and I got to:

"Alice in Wonderland" alone would be a draw for many girls

and whited out from sheer rage.

... There wasn't a single page that I wasn't horrified and/or offended by. You'd think we spent all our time hurling ourselves at those male actors, begging to be allowed to rub off on their legs like dogs or something. And the few that didn't talk about how hawt the guys were, you could just hear the quotes around words and terms like female empowerment. Lyke, OMG, gurl powur!!!1

Wow, way for the LA Times to point out 'hot' Alex O'Loughlin (who couldn't act his way out of a paper bag) but neglect to mention that the movie he's in (Whiteout) is based on a comic by Greg Rucka and it's actually about a woman marshal working out of McMurdo.

Like I'm supposed to be excited about a show about the witches of Eastwick. The movie was darned good enough as it was.

But at least I can use this to validate why I OBVIOUSLY need that week off every year since explaining why I really go gets unnecessarily complicated.

I always go back to the, "But what do you DO with your time if you don't---INSERT GEEKISH ACTIVITY HERE."

It's got time shenanigans, John Cho, and Jack Davenport. That pretty much = win in my book.

It was a very rage-inducing article. Last year's EW article which basically said girls only go to comic con for their significant others didn't even make me as mad.

Seriously, though, in the hotness battle between Alex O'Loughlin and Gabriel Macht, I give Gabriel Macht the edge. Also, hello, Kate Beckinsale and an award winning comic. WTF LA Times, seriously.

I'm mostly excited about Eastwick for Jaime Ray Newman. Because I have an inexplicable girlcrush on Cadman and wish for her to be in everything.

Non geeks are kind of weird and offputting.

But what motivation could a girl possible have for liking anything that didn't involve cute boys? It's not like women can have their own identity or anything. That's crazy talk!

!!!!!

But anyway, oh my goodness yes. I may enjoy some swooning over dreamy boys, but this is a subset of my geekiness, not the motivating factor. YOUR RAGE IS SOOTHING.

For a second, I was all, "HOW DID I NOT KNOW OF THIS" and then I realized I did know of this, I had just misread your comment and for a second thought that Jack Dav and John Cho were in a remake of The Flash, as in, the superhero. I WOULD WATCH THAT SHOW INSTANTLY, even though I don't even know anything about The Flash.

oh, and

God, I know, it's like I'm expecting girls to like explosions and funny stuff and superheroes, and everyone knows girls only like princesses and unicorns.

Heee! Sadly, neither of them would be really good as the Flash. I love John Cho, but I don't know (because I have not seen) that he could pull off quippy banter, though I'd love to see him be a superhero. And Jack Davenport, who *can* do quippy banter very very well wouldn't make a good Flash, of either the Barry OR Wally persuasions.

Maybe a young Jay, though.
