Did you ever make sarma? Basically ground meat with rice and the spices of your choice, wrapped in (for me) pickled cabbage leaves. Mmm. My family prefers those wrapped in grape vine leaves, and serves them with sour cream, but my tastes are more plebe-ish. ;)
