...I have five pages of notes on the genetics of Heroes.
And when I say "genetics" I mean that magical combination of Liberal Arts Major Science From High School and Anthropology 101 and "I think this is the basics of how recessive genes work. There's a little p, right?"
I'm much sketchier on biology than I am physics. This is because physics makes sense where biology is like squishy magic with blood in it. On the other hand, I think what
fox1013 and I came up with works in a handwave-y doesn't-contradict-what-we've-seen-on-the-show-and-actually-sort-of-works-given-tv/comic book-logic way. So yes. I have 5 pages of notes, 11 of those little box deals where you do the X X x X Y thing and a couple paragraphs of "If powers are a recessive trait on the X chromosome..." all of which adds up to wow, I'm an enormous dork. I spend insane amounts of time on the phone, get a manicure and pedicure, and discuss the pseudo-science of time travel and mutant genetics as it relates to Heroes.
Man, I am *totally* those kids in Galaxy Quest with the obsessive map of the innards of the spaceship including the chompy clangy bits and the jets of fire. Come to me and Amy, Heroes writers! We can at least make sure your pseudo-science is consistent!
and awesome.
I think the animated timelines need to be done as a tiny movie with a little stick figure Hiro.
My favorite part of the genetics talk was working in all the parents we've met and speculating on them. I still think it's significant that we met Daddy Deveaux, however briefly. World's Most Ambitious Stage Parents!
If I didn't suck so hard at writing, I would totally write Mohinder fic about all this.
