Don't Look Down by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer = WIN.
It is rollicking good time with Wonderwear, guns, explosions, alligators, and snark.

Date: 2006-04-13 06:50 pm (UTC)On the subject of gorgeous, Jack Davenport is on a program on one of the ITV channels this week, 'The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant' (I think) and he's in naval uniform again! I don't know if you have any UK friends who are technologically enhanced/abled enough to record and transmit it to you in a form you can use, but I thought I'd give you the heads up!

Date: 2006-04-11 08:13 am (UTC)it sounds a bit like Christopher Brookmyre (http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=br_ss_hs/104-5779364-3731914?platform=gurupa&url=index%3Dblended&keywords=christopher+brookmyre&Go.x=10&Go.y=8&Go=Go). if you don't know him and you want to give him a go, i suggest either All fun and games till someone loses an eye (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0316725234/sr=8-1/qid=1144742910/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-5779364-3731914?%5Fencoding=UTF8) (about a housewife who becomes a hitman to save her son), or One fine day in the middle of the night (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0802139809/sr=8-6/qid=1144742910/ref=pd_bbs_6/104-5779364-3731914?%5Fencoding=UTF8) (about a school reunion on an oilrig attacked by mercenaries).
Both very funny, full of action but also written by pop culture freak with a good emotional side.
wow that was a big pimp right there. but i've been reading his books for a long time, and the pimping as become instinctive. ;)
