I bought a very bad not-really-soft-at-all core porn romance novel because it had a spanish speaking vampire.
There are so many, many things wrong with that sentence that I don't even know where to *start*. And honestly, you'd think I'd be more ashamed of this as, well, it's not-really-soft-at-all core porn with vampires. I don't *like* vampires (no, really). I don't like porn (no, really). I *do* like romance novels, though. And see, the thing is, I *know* it's bad. I read the first book in the series *months* ago and I know that it is bad. And yet I found Spanish Speaking Vampire Guy to be so insanely hot that he made up for the part where he had a penis[1]. So, there you go. Western European Vampires = Teh Boring. But take that shit into the Iberian Peninsula, toss in some Moors, and suddenly I am there with bells on. Oh well, I didn't really need my dignity anyway.
Later, to take away some of the embarrassment, I will find my sadly battered and falling apart copy of The Lions of Al-Rassan and roll around in my glee over the OT3-ness of Rodrigo, Jehane, and Ammar.
In the Not Embarrassing portion of my spend-happy evening, I also bought Pride of Baghdad based on nothing more than the fact that it is brightly colored and written by BKV[2].
And I bought tinted lip balm in a color reminiscent of The Only Lipstick I Have Ever Truly Loved. It is not the *same* color, but it is close and that makes it okay[3]. And a shrimp burrito. Not all at the same time, obviously. The shrimp burrito was from Rubio's. Also, I had a churro.
[1] Yeah, have I mentioned my thing about penii recently and how I really find them offputting and kind of creepy? This makes things EXTREMELY DIFFICULT if you are me and have a character type that runs strongly toward men. Stupid character kinks.
[2] I love Runaways and Y: The Last Man and, weirdly enough, BKV's issue of JLA. I am not so fond of Ex Machina, though I don't hate it or anything. It is just not as woo woo attention grabbing for me as the others. Okay, the JLA issue wasn't really woo woo attention grabbing either, but there's a lady, she's Middle Eastern, she's a hero, and it's the flipping Justice League.
[3] No, seriously, I *loved* this lipstick and I am not at all a fashion or makeup person. Like, 12 years later, I still remember it as being The Single Most Awesome Lipstick Color I Have Ever Seen On Me. What makes this hilarious is that MGaW, who some of you will remember as my Wacky Mormon Coworker from That Place I Worked Before The Hellhole I Work In Now (still no news on the promotion front, bastards), *also* remembered the color, thus proving that I was not completely freaking insane. It was by Cover Girl and I don't remember the name of the color, but it was this gorgeous shade between coffee and a dark berry-ish color and it was seriously fucking awesome.

My one wish is that somewhere out on the web there is a porny threesome fic of them being all snarky with one another amidst the hawt sexing.

Date: 2006-10-12 08:34 am (UTC)*not in a bad way. Because I don't have a problem with penii but I still find it amusing that, after all those terrific boobies, I wound up with a bloke again.

Date: 2006-10-12 11:07 am (UTC)*rrrwwrrrr* My mind also instantly adds young Alvar into the mix of all these jaded, war-weary beautiful people.
I also bought Pride of Baghdad
That book broke my heart. And I didn't even read the entire thing.
