I am actually a little bored here and I'm sitting in the dark (HILARITY, let me tell you about it sometime - no, really, I totally need to get on making a filter for this), and just kind of amused at humanity in general when I'm not being RAGINGLY BITTER. But that's pretty par for my particular course.
I'm going to the Angels vs Cleveland game tomorrow and lunchiness on Sunday, which is totally super and exciting. Though it's terribly social and also scary and means I will want to hide in a cave for a while to recharge and regain my antisocial, misanthropic equilibrium. Hah, I'm kidding. Really. I am sunshine and sweetness and light and I have no tendencies toward wanting to punch people repeatedly and gleefully.
So, anyway. A meme type thing, gacked from

Date: 2007-09-08 05:13 am (UTC)Should we revive the long-dead tradition of the castrato?
Possible evidence:
A video featuring four singers that illustrates the differences in their voices: a woman singing soprano, a male countertenor, a boy alto and Michael Maniaci, who's voice never changed for some reason. I believe he is a good example of what a castrato may have sounded like.
A video with music performed by Alessandro Moreschi, one of the last castrati ever and the only one to be recorded. This was originally recorded in the Sistine Chapel on a wax cylinder. While the sound quality is poor and the very emotional style of singing popular at the time (lots of grace notes etc) make the recording sound strange to modern listeners, it is nonetheless interesting. A better example is his performance of Ave Maria-you can hear a recording of that here.
And now I've made myself sound completely insane, so here are some funny fishies!
These are pearlscale goldfish, and they really do look just like that. We have some in my store right now. :)
