...that movie would have been infinitely better without the random crazy dude serial killer.

also, omg you guys, SIMPLE PRECAUTIONS WOULD HAVE PREVENTED LIKE, 2 OF THE DEATHS. LIKE A WETSUIT AND A RADIO THAT WAS NOT DEPENDENT ON THE SHIP. WTF.

I liked it, overall. Michelle Yeoh, Chris Evans, and Rose Byrne were smokin' hot; the science wasn't the best, but whatever, this is by the same guys who decided you could infect monkeys with rage and have it be transmitted to humans and it resulted in a lot of really gorgeous shots; people were generally very practical and the mistakes that were made weren't out of the realm of the possible.

But mostly, people were hot *and* pragmatic *and* saved the world *and* were all of them batshit insane and ruthless.

*nod* I was...totally expecting it to be crap! Crap with people that I didn't much like but the situation was awesome, which is usually how I feel about Danny Boyle movies, but no, I actually liked all the characters! They all made sense! Even when Cassie was like, "Noes, let's not mercy kill the suicidal guy even though we need the oxygen," it was still with the acknowledgment that they *should*. And then they totally overruled her and I laughed. Because I'm mean.

But no, the character stuff all made sense and if you just kind of...accepted how crap some of the science was and the utterly random Psycho Serial Killer in Space, it was fine. It was just...they didn't need the psycho guy. They had all the crazy fuckeduppedness they needed in and amongst themselves that i was disproportionately disappointed by the crazy dude.

And Dr. Searle was so nuts, it was *great*.

I think the film was made by the amazing images. Dr Searle sitting, completely hypnotised and spouting mysticism. Captain Kaneda drifting across the heat shield and the sunshine just *breaking* over him. Corazon distraught by the destruction of the garden and then finding a sprout.

Ok, so I obviously liked this film.
