boo! Having to be at work at 8:00 am. I am on the late shift FOR A REASON.

yay! Out early tomorrow!

boo! Book I went to Borders to buy was not in! Mostly this means I hit Barnes and Noble to get it tomorrow.

yay! AHAHAHA NEW LKH BOOK IS OUT AND DISCOUNTED! Also, other ridiculous time travel romance nonsense! YAY!

boo! New phones get here tomorrow.

yay! NEW PHONES!

boo! Still do not have ability to light people on fire with the power of my mind! FAIL WORLD.

yay! Cobra Starship exists.

boo! I have to be awake early again in a couple weeks!

yay! I don't have to pay to see Incredible Hulk!

boo! Frank Miller exists.

yay! I explained uh, feminist and racial critique of various texts to a white dude and he was all, "...oh. I...oh. I can see how that would be really frustrating, yeah." and I also explained about the Miller test and he came to me two weeks later and was like, "So, you know you have essentially ruined a LOT of comics for me, right?" and I was all, "Bzuh?" and he was like, "I keep reading them now and going, 'Hey, why are these women all prostitutes? Where are the normal non-whore women?' And then putting them away because it made me sad." And then I went \o/

eta: omg, the new LKH book is TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE LIKE THERE ARE NO WORDS. I am seven chapters in (and like, 20 pages, wtf) and it's RIDICULOUSLY AWESOMELY TERRIBLE. A WINNER IS LKH.

I know, right? And the one dude who is persistently kind of a dick is the one dude that *everyone* thinks is kind of a dick *because* he says stupid, sexist shit.

Also, the people I work with are very very anti-racism. Also! Pro logic. It is like my happy place.

in contrast, today I got to listen to Coworker on the phone with a friend, talking about her daughter's friends: "it seems like it's the popular thing to be gay these days, you know? I don't know, it's gross, yeah."

YAYE CATHOLIC HOSPITALS. (/sarcasm)

and then you say, "yeah, it sucks, but in good news all my internet friends want to date you now."

For this, along with many other things, you win at leaving the world a better place than you found it.

White dude at work - join my poor bf in somewhat enlightened and distressed confusion: "Why are all the women whores? Or why are all the women there to get fucked or ripped apart? YOU HAVE RUINED ME FOR COMICS AND FILMS"

Yay! for your Boo! Yay! list, especially the last yay it just wins.

However there's a new LKH book? I sort of lost track after a few books when the whole thing was just becoming like badfic by a someone that sort of wanted to write slash but had some weird hangups about the whole thing and Anita grew into the Mary Sue to end all Mary Sues with her uber specialness.

Have the books now gone over the merely bad and headed straight into so bad it's good territory?

Oh god, the ridiculous Mary Sue-ness continues but yeah, it's essentially circled around from crap to OMG HILARITY. In the most recent one, Anita collects TWO MORE boytoys, dates one more, her entire harem is like, "No, we're fine with you going off to do this fuckbuddy favor for Jason," and she develops EVEN MORE ridiculous queen of the werebeasts powers. It's spectacularly funny.

...man, that's pretty much the only thing that would make LKH better (where by better, I mean infinitely more hilarious).

But alas no. I bought like, three time travel romances on top of the LKH book.

Aw man, my LKH source is out of town at the moment! I'll have to wait either until she gets back or until the library gets it. However, I hit the library last night and purposefully checked out what appear to be a bunch of really bad paranormal romance novels (they say so on the covers!) which should tide me over until then.

I picked up one in the Detroit airport on my way back from Denver that I actually thought was pretty fun. It was sort of chicklit-y (waaaaaaay too much information about designer shoes) but it had neat werewolves and was pleasingly silly. I can't for the life of me remember the title or author at the moment but there's a decent chance that I'll pick up the sequel if I stumble across it this summer.

Right now I'm reading Karen Chance's Embrace the Darkness which is an okay series. I mostly have them because I found the first two for 50¢ at the library and this one I checked out.
