hm. I really liked all the characters except for Vanya and kind of went ??? at the plot. Like, I got to the end and went, "WTF?" This warrants more thinking about.
I just read it myself! Personally I like Vanya but couldn't quite stand Spaceboy and Allison. The one I most desperately want to read about next though is The Horror - he just seemed so conflicted in the flashbacks like he hated himself because he was supposed to be a monster especially the scene where he's holding one of his monsters like a baby and seems to be comforting it. But then I may be reading too much into it. I really love #5 too even if he did shoot Vanya. I also want more between The Kraken and Vanya and what happened to the other 36 babies? So many questions, I'm glad they're making more.
Also you're right the plot made me go ??? it just seemed a bit meandering and unfocused especially for a mini-series. It didn't bother that much because what interested me the most were the flashbacks and snippets of character development from the quotes in the front of each issue but I definitely see your point. The mini-series felt really disconnected from issue to issue, like it should have happened over a longer period of time or some of the storylines should have been trimmed.
