things continue, the centre is holding. mere anarchy is loose upon the world.

which is to say: still looking for a house (3 hours of condo shopping on saturday! woot! The continually failing economy means that interest rates keep dropping along with prices) and DQ continues to be nerdtopia. I applied for the supervisor position for my department and had my interview yesterday and I have another interview next week for another position in a different department. We'll see how it goes.

I got to meet an [livejournal.com profile] annavtree over the holidays and she's REAL. It's amazing. I also got to see [livejournal.com profile] latxcvi, which is always exciting and we were all nerdy and it was good.

There was a fracas with my mom before the holidays. The upshot is that she feels so guilty about what she did that she's being super nice right now. The downside is...well. Nothing, really. It doesn't change the moving out thing at all and it just makes it less like I would rather put a cigarette out in my right eye than come home.

I'm playing a Star Wars pen and paper RPG on weekends. My character is a twi'lek space hooker/spy who thinks slavers should be kicked in the nuts. We spent all of last weekend fighting giant Sith statues and I got to say, "Look around. Can you form some sort of rudimentary lathe?" in complete seriousness and that was fun. We roll like ass, though. The only upshot is that it makes our DM go, "Jesus Christ," and facepalm a lot. It does also make for some exciting battles.

Now I leave you with one of my all time favorite quotes from BtVS:

Xander: You know, maybe we're on the wrong track with the whole spell,curse, and whammy thing. Maybe what we should be looking for is something like, um, Slayer kryptonite.
Oz: Faulty metaphor. Kryptonite kills.
Xander: You're assuming I meant the green kryptonite. I was referring, of course, to the red kryptonite, which drains Superman of his powers.
Oz: Wrong. The gold kryptonite's the power-sucker. The red kryptonite mutates Superman into some sort of weird...
Buffy: Guys. Reality.

I was just thinking about you! I'm very glad you posted, and that you are undeterred in your quest for a place of your own.

Cool that your mother is capable of backing off a bit.

I love you and miss you and things. {{{you}}}

You're alive! I was worried that maybe you were crushed by a truck or eaten by raptors or orcs or something. I don't know, those are the places my brain goes. Glad things are working out! It's good to hear from you.
