Everyone in my house is playing it. I am playing it v. v. badly. It turns out me + shooters = bad. Which I knew from ME1, but I keep hoping magically I will get better.
IJS, I work at one of the best video game companies ever, and when asked at our meeting today what all people were going to do when they got off work, fully half the people on my team were like MASS EFFECT 2 OH YEAH. Some of them installed it at work and are sending save files back and forth. It's an AMAZING game.
I forget planet names, but I just met up with Tali again and was all HEY HEY THERE TALI'ZORAH, HOW YOU DOIN'? and then I remembered I was playing a girl and couldn't hit it with her. (She is my favorite character in ME1).
I've heard that if you upgrade teammates with snipping abilities to be really kickass, you can get away with using your powers to remove shields or put enemies in stasis and barely have to shoot as the game progresses, for those who don't enjoy the actual gunplay. Something to keep in mind!
bamlkr and I both got it around the same time and were spamming each other with flaily IMs the whole time, all, "HAVE YOU SEEN THIS PLANET YET? WELL GO THERE NEXT." She always beats games before I do but this time I just CAN'T PUT IT DOWN and since I don't officially go back to work for a few more weeks I can afford to let this game be the crazy time sink it wants to be.
I got it a day early here, though it involved going out into a massive downpour. So I'm several planets in. I don't usually remember planet names, but so far I've remembered most of the ones from this game just because each planet actually has a unique vibe and atmosphere. A lot of them feel as massive as the Citadel did in the first one.
Don't get me wrong, I like Miranda too! In fact, I like Tali MORE this time and seriously just love everyone in this new crew so far. They all have more to do and more personality this time, plus the game as a whole feels much more playful and funny despite the overall darker tone.
But I just finished Jacob's side quest last night and... yeah. He's the man. (Also, like Miranda, he looks ridiculously fit in those tight Cerberus outfits.) I also like how he salutes me and openly speaks his mind instead of going with blind loyalty. AND OH YES, HE SALUTES ME. GOOD MAN, SOLDIER.
Wait until you recruit The Professor. I bet you're going to love him, he's awesome.

Date: 2010-01-27 10:57 am (UTC)I am turning into a weirdo. I just want to assault everyone I know with flailing and squeeing and they don't care, BUT THEY SHOULD.
Martin Fucking Sheen, I can't get over it. I JUST CAN'T. ahem. What planet are you on?
