The casting for Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Jesse McCartney or whoever as Zuko
+ Recasting JUST Zuko to be of color
+ Removing the ACTUALFAX chinese calligraphy and replacing it with gibberish
+The leaked casting notes
+ Ignoring MANAA
+ Changing the martial arts
=FAIL.

I have finally FINALLY found a scent that makes my head feel as happy as my nose (well, for cheaper than Jo Malone Amber&Lavender, anyway). Thymes Lavender collection smells like an upscale, old school barber shop. I cannot even begin to tell you how long I've been looking for a scent like that. Their Eucalyptus collection is also amazing. Happy scents!

one of the things that is, apparently, in discussion for a wedding gift from the boything's parents is a puppy*. They breed black labs, but we don't have room for one of those (which is sad, because they're beautiful and awesome), so we were thinking of getting a small dog (which would, essentially, be my puppy).

We've ruled out pugs because of the health problems, but otherwise, we are open to suggestions. So far, the front runners are a corgi or a papillon. Any recommendations for a relatively mellow, preferably non-yappy small dog?

I suspect I already know what norabombay's suggestion would be :)



*the last dog I had was a puppy from the time I got her until my mom gave her away 10 years later. all dogs == puppies. especially if they are tiny.

so, I've been watching the tablet...fights? debates? trollbait? with enthusiasm since apple announced the ipad and I understand a lot of the reasons people will not be buying one: lack of flash, though honestly, I don't care except for hulu, and I don't watch hulu enough to make that a dealbreaker; closed ecosystem; whatever. But the one that BOGGLES MY MIND is "there's no camera, so I can't do video calls"

REALLY DUDES? Because you know what I see people doing all the time? VIDEO CALLS. Really? That's the dealbreaker? A lack of front facing camera for video calls?

I have a front facing camera on my macbook pro and I use it like once every 4 months to make sure i've put my makeup on correctly.

Now, the back camera I can understand for augmented reality type things, except again, I've never once seen anyone using that.

The Courier looks interesting, or it would if it was anything other than a render. The NotionInk Adam looks very interesting and hopefully it will be out by the time I want a gadget of this nature so I can properly compare. The HP Slate looks sluggish wrt touch capability. The Joojoo looks awesome but reported battery life is kind of crap and the company looks iffy.

I want this to read books, comic books, let me take notes, watch occasional video, and surf the internet from bed. Also it seems like it would be an AWESOME Comic Con accessory. Especially is someone makes an app for it the way someone made an app for SXSW to be all, "I'm sitting here, where are you sitting?"

Anyway. Haters gotta hate, I guess.

In other news, I now own another copy of Superman Returns because I WORE OUT my first copy (and boy, is the news that the Dark Knight writers are going to write the next Superman movie making me really sad, 'cause seriously, seriously, a Superman story is a very different creature from a Batman story. Also the rumor that Singer and Routh are rumored to be out for the next movie. Oh, also, what kind of moron does not cast Ryan McPartlin as Captain flipping America? Blargh. Comic book movies, sometimes you make me sad)

I also got a copy of Warbirds. Because it's tough to beat the awesomeness of a WWII all girl bomber squadron vs GIANT DINOSAURS. A++++ entertainment.

Wedding planning goes well. We have secured a hotel in San Diego, near the trolley stop there, with (relatively) inexpensive rooms that will extend through Comic Con.

What does not go well is:

a) My mother has consistently refused to provide me with a name of People I Must Invite Or It Will Bring Shame Upon My Family.

b) I'm still boggling over my sister becoming engaged to my niece's husband's brother after losing her job and watching her rat bastard ex-husband get engaged to an 18 year old. STAY CLASSY, FAMILY.

c) I am also getting no help at all wrt the Sofreh Aghd and I do not, in fact, have MORE THAN 1 happily married female relative to hold the cloth over my head, much less another one to grind sugar. I also do not think that my mother will be busting out her sofreh for me to use.

d) My oldest sister and my favorite nephew moved, changed their phone numbers, and have not contacted us in a year.

e) It is stupid and small and petty of me, but I'm kind of miffed that my family did not throw me an engagement party like they are doing for my sister. whatevs.

so, I just bought The Mask of Zorro on dvd because I love Zorro, you guys, I love Zorro like you could not BELIEVE. If you're looking for What Formed Wee Me, you're looking at Supes and Wondy, Zorro, Robin Hood (the foxy version), Red Sonja, and The Empire Strikes Back.
