Movies What I Like That People Make Fun of Me For:
  • Josie and the Pussycats -- DuJour means crash positions!
  • Orange County -- on writing and home and getting away from home and gay surfers
  • Drumline -- ONE BAND! ONE SOUND!
  • American Outlaws -- Gabriel Macht's Frank James is smoking hot. Seriously.
  • Matrix Reloaded -- The twins, man. The twins. Also Agent Elrond Smith.
  • Mystery Men -- Disco is not dead! Disco is life! Also, Ms. Garafalo.
  • The Replacements -- Because apparently I'm totally a sucker for movies where the official team goes on strike and the games have to be played by replacement players. This is also totally true of that one movie with Kathy Ireland and Scott Bakula, both Major League movies, and really, any movie that involves a cast of misfits playing sports and discovering that they are truly awesome and the equal of professional players if they just want it enough. See also: Angels in the Outfield (both versions), The Mighty Ducks, A League of Their Own, Iron Ladies, etc etc etc. Okay, so maybe I am just a sucker for earnest sports movies.

I have seen half of those movies more than once. Icannot, therefore, judge.

I am such a sucker for all those sports movies you listed. I am actually just a sucker for sports movies in general. I loved the ones which came out around the same time as Angels in the Outfield. The one where the kid inherited a baseball team. And Rookie of the Year (whose star was on Grey's earlier this season and it totally drove me nuts trying to figure out where I knew him from and why I liked him so darn much automatically).

Oh, Rookie of the Year. *hearts* I'm all torn, because the sports movie loving part of me wants to see The Greatest Game Ever Played, but that almost looks too earnest. And it is about golf, so I am kind of like, "Hmmmm."

I want to see it as I have an inexplicable love for Shia Lebouf. But yeah the golf thing did give me pause.

Ah, the movie in question would be "Necessary Roughness."

Yeah, the earnest sports movie is a favorite genre of mine which is why I'll watch all the Rocky movies (except for the one with Mr. T) over and over again; especially the one with Dolph Lundgren in it because, hey, Dolph!

On my list I'd include: The Longest Yard (the original, dammit), The Sandlot, and The Bad News Bears (again, the original), Bud Greenspan's Olympic films - not exactly underdoggish but they have their moments, Hoosiers.

I love The Replacements if only for the jailhouse dance scene.

The jailhouse dance scene is awesome.

And yes! Necessary Roughness! I heart it so. The Rockys are awesome, The Sandlot is also awesome, and I somehow managed to miss the Bad News Bears and the Longest Yard.

    And oh, Hoosiers. *cuddles it*

ONE BAND! ONE SOUND! There is more to that movie than JC on the soundtrack! There is Orlando Jones, being FABULOUS!

Does your earnest sports movie thing extend to hockey, because I tell you, I cried watching Miracle and I could use some company.

Ooh, I have never seen Miracle! I did see that Alaskan hockey movie with Russell Crowe and Hank Azaria, though.

Is Miracle terribly earnest? 'Cause that'd be awesome.

Dude, Miracle is the story of the 1980 US Hockey victory over the ev0l russians - earnest doesn't even begin to cover it.

I really like the Alaskan movie with Russell Crowe. It's probably the only DEK script I unabashedly enjoy. Plus, I heart Russell Crowe.

Josie and the Pussycats ROCKS! DuJour means cleanliness!

All sport movies about misfits ROCK. And I always shed at least one tear during the Last Big Game. and, um, really, at any oppurtunity.

Also, I'll go one step beyond American Outlaws, which, yes, I loved, and say I love every Colin Farrell movie ever made. Yeah.

Or maybe we're just really lame.

Also, Eliza Dushku and Gabrielle Union. It is very hard not to love a movie that has them in it.

I was sent here after putting this message in someones journal. They told me that you might be the one that posted it in their journal. Think you can help?---

I may just be reading wrong, or not reading at all. But I see that you have the words FEMSLAHS and The books A Great and Terrible Beauty/ Rebel Angels on your list. I woke up today in great need of femslash from those two books. Fiction and Role Play. I think you're the only person on the planet that's even come close to it. Do you think you could help me out?

I mean there's slash and fem slash for damn Wizard of Oz, why not these books? Thank you in anyway you can help, and sorry if I came on a bit strong.

I also know that [livejournal.com profile] twinkledru wrote fic and I know that [livejournal.com profile] fox1013, [livejournal.com profile] pearl_o, [livejournal.com profile] twinkledru, and some others are very pro-Great and Terrible Beauty fic.
