In the Things That Have Roy category of stuff I've read--
Green Arrow: Quiver Green Arrow: Archer's Quest All of Outsiders to date Justice League of America #1
And um, some of that giant omnibus of Green Arrow from when he was Speedy. But I think I am not going to read any more of that because, well, it all started to blur after a while.
I should probably also say that I know the pertinent details -- heroin, Cheshire, Checkmate, Lian, etc etc etc. The problem is that I don't know the um, *vague gesture* emotional context? How he feels about most of it.
Like, mostly I am trying to get a handle on the character for um. Fic. Purposes. Maybe.
Have you read Arsenal 1-4 by Devin Grayson? It does pretty much exactly what you're looking for-- tells Roy's journey, lots of flashbacks, pulls it all together into one thing.
Alternately, you could try Devin Grayson's novel "Inheritance." (Which depends on a sort of novelization of the flashback bits in Arsenal 1-4, plus some more Cheshire bits.) And yes, everything you've heard about it is true-- it's just *not* very good at all, plus the kind of "Honey, your id vortex is showing" mentor/student eepiness, but she does give good Roy.
I've read Inheritance which, er, I took with a bit of salt because novelizations != canon. And I did not know that there was an Arsenal mini, so, er, no. Haven't read that one!
There's more up now--I think I got the strip club one-off Green Arrow issue number right. Otherwise, it's some random GA issue I thought was the right one.
(I'd put the whole freaking Titans run up there, but it's kind of a lot of issues, so I may go through them and see which arcs had the best Roy.)

He's a *dad*. Who loves his daughter. He totally had me at hello.
