Plus, you know, he went and flew into a burning building to save someone in the comic.

Oh, how I wish we got that in an episode! I think it's my favourite comic so far (though Hiro's comes very, very close). I loved that the "angel" left his coat with the Vote Petrelli badge behind (and heh, the girl he saved is named Sheila ;) ), as a sort of reminder that superheroes don't need be angels in their daily life. I admit, I cackled loudly over "Eat your heart out, Petey".

Okay, good point about Nathan not lying to himself, he's a very intelligent guy, after all. And this makes his story even more interesting, so I'm all for it.

I like your reading of the Petrellis, and that's why I like when you do meta. I like changing my opinion when presented with an angle I missed. ;)

Same goes for Isaac - I think I was looking for enthusiasm, but maybe I was looking in the wrong place.

Yeah, after the disappointment passed, I realized it's actually great, because it doesn't make her a killer, and it's not like he can say "well, this girl crashed the car right into the wall, but she doesn't have a scratch or burn mark on her". And she does the right thing, because she's a Big Damn Hero.

I was thinking about the way the various powers have been granted - Nathan the shark got the arguably romantic power of flying, Peter who wanted to be special got the imitative power. On the other hand, Niki got more or less what she needed to protect herself and Micah (who, yes, manages to pwn for all the few lines he got).

And sweet geeky Hiro got the coolest one of all - I mean, bending time and space! But we see it's going to change him, and I fear what events may have lead to the serious future!samurai!Hiro.

Heee. Nathan and Hiro's comics are tied for first place in my love. Because Nathan's is...him flying into a burning building to save someone because he *can* (heart! heart heart heart!) and Hiro's making the cover of Action Comics #1 into a paper crane to honor his grandfather and also Hiro was named after Hiroshima so they wouldn't forget. It is all just so, so wonderful.

And yeah, I *love* Nathan. And not in a way where I think he's more interesting than anyone else, but he's just as interesting as everyone else and I think he sometimes gets dismissed very easily.

And I just...I love that Nathan's power is romantic, like you say, and that it works on so many levels metaphorically. Amy and I said, after we saw the pilot at Comic Con, that it was *so awesome* that Nathan's power kicked in to catch Peter when he fell like Nathan had been doing all their lives, but it's more than that, even. Nathan's the one who stands out, he's the one with the ambition, he's the one that gets noticed, and of *course* Nathan has the flashy power, the power that can be *seen*. Of course he does. And he has the power to *rise above*. Literally. And he's the one who needs that most *because* of who he is.

And yo, your reading of Peter's power? *Totally awesome*. I had not even thought of that.

I love this show so, so, so much. Hell, now I need an icon of Nathan, because I do think he's stepped up enough to get one. Oh, Heroes. How happy you make me.
